Hi
My Cat 140g has behaved and worked well since the last few issues. Now Operator says it would not move.
If you jack wheels up, the left side wheels does not turn but right side wheels turn.
Chain is intact. The left side didn't have oil.
Topped up oil however no different.

Any idea what could cause this?
Side shaft? Diff?

Weird cutting edge. Galion 118

I am trying to replace the cutting edge on my Galion 118 grader. As I measure the cutting edge I come up with 3.5 inches from the side to to center of the first hole, then 11 inches center-to-center on all of the other holes with the last hole being 3.5 inches from the far end. 12 foot moldboard with 2 cutting edges, each 6 feet long.

Does anybody have a part number or source for these? The OEM part number crosses to a standard 3 inch, 3 inch, 12 inch, 12 inch, 12 inch, 12 inch, 3 inch, 3 inch blade.

140m loud noise

Having a problem with one of our 140m's. It doesn't make any noise till transmission gets to around 160, and then gets a loud whining sound comeing from behind the cab somewhere. Only does it above 1500 rpm's. Cat and our mechanics cant figure it out thought it was a hose or steel line under the cab at first but have pretty well eliminated that. Has anyone had any issue like this with the m series.. Also would like to know if anyone knows where I could see a list of the known problems or recalls on the early model 140m's. . thanks

Help with Detroit Diesel 4-71 Starting Problem

I have a Galion 118 grader with a Detroit Diesel 4-71. Never had a problem starting it until now. The starter solenoid won't pull in. I've charged the battery, cleaned all the connections, checked the wires and nothing. The coil of the solenoid isn't open or grounded. I disconnected the solenoid ground and connected a DVM from the solenoid coil ground tab and a good ground. I get 9.33 VDC when I energize the solenoid. With the battery voltage at 12.65, that is a voltage drop of 3.32 VDC. Can't find any test specs on the solenoid. I got 3 jobs waiting and need this thing running. Any Detroit mech's out there that can help me? Thanks.

How do I check a grader (cat 120B) is working well before buying it?

Hi Guys,

I am looking at the possibility of buying a 120B grader, but I am no expert. I am wondering what I need to check on to make sure that the grader is in good working order before forking out hard earned cash? ie any obvious areas to check for oil leaks? Any must-do maneuvers during the test drive, etc?

Thanks in advance for your feedback...

CAT 140G All wheel drive charge pumps

Have a 140G with AWD that is not working. Seems like most everything on that system points back to the charge pressure which should be 450 psi with AWD off and 350 psi when it is on at idle. I only get 60 psi no matter what I change the pressure relief to. There are 2 charge pumps that Tee together before the filter and pressure relief. How would be the best way to test one or the other separately? Can't imagine just plugging the output of 1 to be a good idea.
