Where do I find a rear steering positioning sensor for my 1993 570B Motor Grader? John Deere says they can no longer order or produced. This controls my rear steering gauge in the cab. Have looked online with no luck.

Many Thanks

Hi, I am getting real tired of replacing the rubber straps on my 140h from the moldboard and going through ditches and windrows. Would the cable steps off the 140G series work on the 140H?

I am about to come into possession of AC. model D grader, and I am wondering if anyone could help with the location of the ID tag.
Also it is a manual rotate turn table, and I was wondering if this is because of the date of manufacture, or if the hydraulic rotate was an option? Also the front axle does not have the tilting wheels, is that an option also? Does anyone know of a parts yard for parts?

Thank you for a response.

Small Grader Questions

Are small graders like lee boy or a Royal 80 a viable option for gravel road maintenance? I know bigger is better but bigger is a lot higher. Realistically what are these smaller graders capable of?

Thanks, Roddyo

Volvo G946

Does anyone have any idea how to adjust the hydraulic flow/speed to a hydraulic wing on a Volvo G946?
Machine has dedicated controls for the wing, we are not robbing them from something else. Trying to raise the wing faster and not destroy mailboxes/signs/delineators. Local Volvo dealer that set this thing up new for me says that it cannot be adjusted? It is a Falls wing.

Hello all! New Here. Anyone recently switch from an H to an M?

I run an H for Summer road construction and Winter plowing ( with snow wedges; a V-plow; a wing; and buttons! ), and am quite happy with it, but we recently had a Cat orientation for the M-series, of which we already have several. It seems to be the way of the future but I'm not looking forward to the changeover. Anyone already done so?

Cheers,

P.O.

I was looking at the difference in the numbers of threads and posts between the different machines, and noticed how the excavators have the highest. I have always found that when you try to train young people on a grader, they would rather run a hoe. Personally, I try to avoid anything with tracks especially if you live in an area that gets cold weather because I hate working all day, and then having to shovel off the tracks before I go home.

Champion 780A series V vhp questions?

My buddy just picked a Champion 780A VHP SERIES 5 with 7000 hours and have some questions.
1) If it stalls in gear it won't re-start until you jump it!Is this normal or due to the electronics and it senses it's in gear? I was surprised at the tiny batteries it has ( 31-MHD not 4 or 8 d as I would expect)

2) Slow hydraulics. All of my grader experiances is on Cats (14g,h, and m,160 h and m,and 140 h) and not sure if this is a Champion thing or the hydraulics are not set right? If you hit the float from fully raised they are faster the if you manually lower them and all functions seem sluggish.

3) don't have a manual so what is the set pressure on hydraulics?

4) Every once in a while, it won't go into reverse and you have to cycle back and forth from neutral to reverse. Is this an electrical/ computer problem? Bad joystick/ paddle?

Thanks in advance!

thank you to all the grader operators

Hi eveyone I want to take the opportunity to thank all the great grader operators here for helping me in my business. Ive been running a grader on and off for about 5 years and last year I received the chance to purchase the machine id been running for years. Its an old champion 730A in great shape but I was really scared that my skills were not refined enough to make a living from grading alone. After reading and using many of the tips and tools such as a slope meter I was able to up my game in a big way. I found myself with very little competition in the Toronto area just as youve all said, theres a serious shortage of good operators everywhere. Once again thanks eveyone especially to Randy and all the very experienced guys for your wisdom

thanks Danny
p.s I will upload some pics over the next couple of days

Another photo of my Cat graders loaded up and moving to another job in the Northern Territory , I have a tier 1 & tier 2 and have found them to be reliable machines in very hot and dusty conditions . I have been operating graders for the last 10 years and started with a Cat 12E .

Roading speed?

My current H will do 33 mph on the flats. My old one topped out at 28 mph.

Have to reset my circle on the H. Any hints/tips?

It's more 'juddery' than it used to be when rotating and the rear shoes are about 3mm thick. The oil is fine in the circle motor - the shims must have worn out enough to let the circle teeth come back too deeply into the spindle teeth. I think. :D. I've only been running a grader for eight months...

Tread direction

As I read through this forum, I noticed several pictures of graders with the tread on the tires oriented front on one side and back on the other side. My grader has the same thing but I thought it may have been a mistake. Now that I have seen other graders with the same thing I wonder if someone can explain why they would be installed that way. Would it be equal traction in forward and in reverse? But I would not have much need for traction in reverse.Name: IMG_0660.jpg

Filters for a Champion C86C in Australia

Hi all,

I have a Champion C86C and its the best grader I have owned ( If I wasn't already married, I'd sleep with it....!)

I shipped it over from Arizona to Australia and now need filters. The dealer is looking into it but cannot seem to locate the Hydraulic Filters based on the numbers on the Filters.

They are:
RHS of machine 06165 over 112215 and
LHS of machine 06228 over 112202

None of these numbers correspond with the dealers parts books. ( both filters were installed in the US )

If anyone could shed any light on the 'Australian equivalent' either genuine or generic, I would be most grateful.

Cheers
Wayne
